Elephant Camp - Glamping Style

We used to provide much of the following for free, as a courtesy, but too few of us bear the burden and we now have to rent larger storage unit, as well as squeezing our hauling capacities to beyond breaking point. We’ve also added more options and luxuries.

Drinking Water $4 gallon

Shower Water $4 gallon

(We must pay for disposal or haul it off the playa ourselves). Our evaporation system reduces our shower wastewater by about half, but it takes much maintenance, and the more water, the greater the burden. When a water truck is located on the Playa, the cost is $3 per gallon for non-potable, and $3 to dispose the gray water.

Bike rental $150 (includes transport)

Bike transport (only) $50

Bike storage $50

Sleeping Bag $40

Air Mattress $40

Air conditioning is available for tents and RVs. The peak heat hours are from 11 am to 5 pm and this is when AC power is provided.

Generator power for AC $350

Air Conditioning unit $150

Lodging:

Tents: $75

Shiftpod (Large) - see the picture above. These units are the most bomber tents on the Playa - insulated and sealed from the elements with an AC port (AC extra, see above). $750. The footprint for these large tents is 16 feet, requiring larger shaded space, which is also calculated into the cost. No toilet - most people have a pee bottle, and make daily trips to the portapotties.

Shiftpod (small, 6 1/2’ x 6 1/2’) - big enough for one person to be comfortable, also has a AC port. $350

Trailers: Hauling a trailer to Black Rock Desert from Reno, Portland of elsewhere is a huge thing. Trucks to pull it in and out, as well as servicing on the Playa and cleaning after. These have built in toilets, unlike the shiftpods.

18’ trailer, big enough for 2 (or 4 with bunk) is about $6,000 (price on request)

24' trailer, big enough for 4 (or 6 with bunk) is about $8,500 (price on request)
